Highlights:
-
Approximately 45 Harris-Stowe students were in
attendance for the IOBSE Exclusive “Security Careers Day”.
Career day focuses on enhancing the skills necessary to move
from campus to the professional world. Among the topics covered
were interviewing techniques, personal brand image, and careers
in security.

Dr. Dwyane Smith, Vice President of Academic
Affairs; Ken Bowman, Chair of Urban Specializations were in
attendance supporting the Security Career Day seminar.

A special thanks go to University
Representatives, Attorney Robin Shaw, Associate Professor of
Pre-Law; Wanda McNeil, Career Services Department for their
efforts in preparation of this successful day.

IOBSE was represented by executives from Gap,
Incorporated and Target Corporation. Thanks to James Pittman,
Regional Loss Prevention Manager; Art Mercer, Target Group
Assets Protection Team Lead, Jenae Wallick, Target District
Assets Protection Team Lead; and Lakeitria (Ann) Luter, Target
Store Team Lead for their passion and energy to work together
toward one goal; advancing the opportunities of minority
students.

Several students from HSSU were interviewed and
are eligible for sponsorship to the 2008 IOBSE Annual Spring
Conference to be held in Minneapolis, MN.

To cap off the event, the students plan to
work with their Professors and Campus Administration in hopes to
establish an IOBSE Student Chapter!

IOBSE has been asked to return to campus next
year!
